SUMMARY DESCRIPTION; PHYSICAL DEMANDS; AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Summary Description: Under general direction from the assigned supervisor in the Division of Food and Nutrition Services, staff in this job family provides all levels of user support and technology administration. Based on the assigned level, this work may include analyzing and resolving problems related to workstations, networks, servers, and printers; performing systems analysis; designing and implementing configuration changes; and performing related duties as required or assigned. Position provides technology administration, integration and troubleshooting of hardware/software located in the Food & Nutrition Services office and all of the school cafeterias. Provide support and manage operations of division technical help desk. Job provides customer service to administrators, supervisors, users and parents. May assist with the training of lower-graded employees, as assigned. May provide guidance and assistance to full, part-time and/or hourly employees, as required. Physical Demands: Position requires occasional operation of keyboard devices for sustained periods. Special physical tasks such as moving computer equipment, wire management, equipment maintenance, and computer and peripheral connection/installation require the ability to bend, lift, climb, carry, and crawl; often under tables or in small spaces. Ability to move computer equipment up to 50 lbs. utilizing safety lifting and moving techniques. Special Requirements: Ability to work overtime as required and to respond to emergency work needs. ITSS may be required to transport MCPS equipment, practice reasonable precautions, and provide secure overnight storage.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES: Can demonstrate knowledge of principles, concepts, and methods of applicable computer technology and its most effective and efficient utilization; good knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, instructional technology requirements; knowledge of standard microcomputer operating systems and the software used in a network environment; knowledge of multiple microcomputer and network operating systems, and proficiency at standard desktop and communications applications and protocols; and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge and experience using Active Directory group policy to manage computer and user settings. Ability to analyze and resolve cafeteria point-of-sale account discrepancies. Possession of an appropriate, valid vehicle operator^s license and employee-provided transportation is required. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Education Training Experience:Bachelors degree required. Professional experience supporting users and technology administration required. Combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:A valid vehicle operator^s license is required. Use of a personal vehicle is required due to the need to support multiple locations. Microsoft Technology Associate certification-Windows OS Fundamentals preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Not all duties assigned are included, nor are all duties listed performed in every office or every day) Under general supervision and guidance performs and provides technology administration, integration and troubleshooting of hardware/software located in the Food Nutrition Services office and all school cafeterias. Performs all tasks associated with the IT systems support specialist. 1. Supports and manages operation of division technical help desk.2. Provides customer service for cafeteria point-of-sale accounts to administrators, supervisors, users and parents. 3. Analyzes and resolves cafeteria point-of-sale account discrepancies.4. Utilizes Active Directory group policy to manage computer and user settings.5. Coordinates hardware and software maintenance and repair activities, with second level support and with outside vendors for the repair of complex problems.6. Utilizes workstation imaging software to create and apply images to computer workstations.7. Performs routine desktop equipment maintenance. 8. Installs, maintains, and upgrades workstation or server software. 9. Analyzes and resolves basic desktop application problems. 10. Installs computer peripherals, such as printers, laptop, scanner, etc. 11. Ensures use of local area network best practices are maintained. 12. Coordinates network policies, procedures and standards with central office.13. Provides technical support for division wide wireless device and cellular phone programs. 14. Maintains inventory of all division computer equipment.15. Assists with the development of IT related training manuals for division staff.16. Provides support to the division by using foodservice application reporting tools.17. May provide guidance/supervision to full/part time or hourly position(s).18. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
