WORKING TITLE: Training Support Specialist - DBIS GRADE: 21 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under the supervision of the organizational change management team leader, the Training Support Specialist will work independently and collaboratively to plan, design, develop, present, and creatively enhance a variety of resources and training materials, that can be delivered through synchronous and asynchronous training to stakeholders (i.e. - central office, school-based staff). Executes all facets of the training development life-cycle for various training types, including instructor led courses, web-based and online training, blended learning, and performance support. Provides a wide variety of supports to meet the needs of stakeholders related to system goals for implementations, releases, and upgrades of business technology systems (i.e.- accounting, budgeting, human capital management, procurement, materials management, financial management). Provides support for business process improvement and management, coordination of resources and supports, and the design and implementation of readily accessible training resources, tools, and programs. Develop, execute, test training courses and support products. Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with training project plans and schedules. In collaboration with functional users, there may be a need to develop forms, letters, notices, and other publications for use by stakeholders.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Proficient knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of business management, specifically in accounting, financial management, human resources, budgeting, and planning are preferred. Ability to understand the processes, systems administration, business operations, policies and procedures of a K-12 school district. Ability to continually adapt, learn new processes, and business applications. Knowledge of the analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluate (ADDIE) model preferred. Excellent oral and written communications, human relations skills, and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders (i.e. - central office, school-based staff). Ability to administer and apply continuous improvement principles to automated business information systems. Ability to communicate effectively using coaching strategies and techniques while collaborating across functional teams. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively with administrators, staff and other stakeholders to resolve a variety of questions/ problems. Ability to quickly learn and apply MCPS business operating procedures, organization, business functions, personnel, and programs. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent writing, proofreading and solid layout skills to develop training course materials.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a preferred major in business, communications, education, technology, or a related field. At least 4 years of relevant experience with design and development in a training or K-12 environment. Prior experience as an instructor and/or facilitator. Considerable experience using Google Workspace, Canvas, Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, and Word) is desirable. Demonstrated experience working with streaming audio and video, file types and formats, and related software (i.e. - Camtasia, Studio, Adobe Articulate, etc.). Ability to communicate and collaborate using a variety of virtual meeting tools (i.e. - Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc.). Competency with basic HTML editing software and basic image editing software such as Photoshop, Snagit, and productivity software and tools. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as a member of the Change Management and Training Team for implementations and system support.

2. Participates in appropriate implementation project activities required to gain knowledge of software solutions and aligning business processes.

3. Assists in assessing impacts of and process changes and software solutions on the organization as a whole and on persons with specified roles within the organization.

4. Development and enhancement of training materials to support learning for users of business and human capital management software.

5. Participates in software upgrade activities related to documentation of business system requirements, system integration, and user acceptance testing.

6. Creates tools for Subject Mater Experts (SMEs) to ensure content is developed appropriately and in line with enterprise standards.

7. Creates training material in a variety of media (online guides, videos, simulations, presentations, etc.).

8. Delivers training in a variety of formats and venues to meet the needs of the diverse learning styles of MCPS staff.

9. Collaborates in the development and delivery of training content, including planning and scheduling of training sessions.

10. Performs related work as required or as assigned.
