SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Provides expert-level incident management and response, support, as well as support for system-wide technology programs; assists with the design, implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of enterprise-wide security measures; performs project management as the lead technical expert for a specific program area; and performs related duties, as required or assigned. Receives general supervision from a manager or coordinator. Oversees the work of IT systems specialists and other technical staff, as assigned. May provide guidance and assistance to vendors and/or full-, part-time, and/or hourly employees, as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Familiar with endpoint protection, including Microsoft 365 Defender, Google Education Suite, and other cloud-based security products. Demonstrates knowledge of network and system tools, such as: System level monitoring, i.e. Sysmon configuration, Microsoft SCOM; Network traffic analysis, i.e. Wireshark; Patch Management, i.e. Microsoft Intune, SCCM/SCEM; SIEM systems i.e. Microsoft Sentinel, and Splunk. Understands sandboxing. Understands Virtual Machine (VM) management. Familiar with MITRE ATT&CK Framework. Understands vulnerability mitigation and management. Understands identity and access management (IAM) and privileged access management (PAM). Familiar with digital forensics. Must have a core understanding of network security and infrastructure. Knowledge and understanding of information security principles. Addressing security vulnerabilities through comprehensive patch management. Demonstrates knowledge of standard computer and network operating systems, protocols, and software with advanced proficiency in using standard and ad hoc applications. Able to determine priorities, allocate resources, manage projects, measure and analyze results. Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in computer science or information systems. Extensive experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, SAN concepts, server clustering, server virtualization, server redundancy, disaster recovery, Active Directory (AD), AD Group Policies, server installation, scripting, collaboration on enterprise applications and database; experience with enterprise systems/tools such as Office 365, What's Up, Solarwinds, Splunk, Wireshark, etc. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs all tasks associated with the IT systems engineer. 2. Provides technical leadership for an assigned program. 3. May supervise technical aspects of work. 4. May act as a project lead performing project management duties. 5. Assists with the management and maintenance of all software and hardware systems required to carry out the program assigned. 6. Prioritizes, schedules, and allocates technology support resources for the program assigned. 7. Provides support for instructional and administrative computer technology and resolves technical support issues that may interrupt the delivery of instruction and administrative services. 8. Diagnoses and assists in the resolution of complex issues related to infrastructure, servers, and local and wide area networks. 9. Participates in the hiring process. 10. Provides orientation, mentoring, training, and staff development for staff. 11. Provides input into the evaluations of designated technical staff. 12. Serves on cross-functional teams, as assigned. 13. Plans state-of-the-art technology developments. 14. Creates long-range plans for the adoption of new technologies. 15. Participates in the design of enterprise-wide infrastructure. 16. Designs and recommends specific technology solutions based on user requirements. 17. Obtains quotes on hardware and software based on design specifications. 18. Leads research and development related to an assigned system-wide program. 19. Prepares and conducts technical review of various projects and/or specific incidents. 20. Reviews hardware and/or software specifications from different departments and analyzes and reports on configuration issues. 21. Attends meetings to discuss technical requirements. 22. May participate in the evaluation of staff. 23. Works closely with program managers, coordinators, and directors as a technical expert. 24. Ensures collaboration with other technology teams
