WORKING TITLE: IT Systems Engineer - DET GRADE: 27 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION; PHYSICAL DEMANDS; AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Summary Description: Provides expert-level support for system-wide technology programs; assists with the design, implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of enterprise-wide infrastructure; performs project management as the lead technical expert for a specific program area; and performs related duties, as required or assigned. Supervision Received/Given: Receives general supervision from a manager or coordinator. Oversees the work of IT systems specialists and other technical staff, as assigned. May provide guidance and assistance to vendors and/or full-time, part-time, and/or hourly employees, as required. Physical Demands: Some lifting/moving of equipment Special Requirements: None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES: Can demonstrate knowledge of standard computer and network operating systems, protocols, and software with advanced proficiency in using standard and ad hoc applications; knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, instructional technology requirements; ability to determine priorities, allocate resources, manage projects, measure and analyze results; and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Proficiency with GAM (Google Apps Manager) for bulk administration, Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS), and basic scripting for automation. Supporting Services Professional Growth System-Employees must demonstrate the following Core Competencies: commitment to students, knowledge of the job, professionalism, interpersonal and communication and organizational skills, and problem-solving competencies. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Education Training Experience:Bachelor's degree required. College coursework in computer-related fields. Three to five years of progressively more responsible experience in user support and technology administration with at least 1 year specifically administering Google Workspace in an educational or enterprise setting. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree, which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.  Certificate License: An active Google Workspace Administrator (Associate or Professional) certification is highly preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Example Duties:1.    Performs all tasks associated with the IT systems support specialist. 2.    Provides technical leadership for an assigned program. 3.    May supervise technical aspects of work. 4.    May act as a project lead performing project management duties. 5.    Assists with the management and maintenance of all software and hardware systems required to carry out the program assigned. 6.    Prioritizes, schedules, and allocates technology support resources for the program assigned. 7.    Provides support for instructional and administrative computer technology and resolves technical support issues that may interrupt the delivery of instruction and administrative services. 8.    Diagnoses and assists in the resolution of complex issues related to infrastructure, servers, and local and wide area networks. 9.    Configures and maintains the Google Admin Console, managing organizational units (OUs), groups, and user accounts for students and staff.10.    Implements and monitor security protocols, including 2-Step Verification (2SV), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and age-based access settings to protect minor students.11.    Provides and manages institutional devices, specifically Chromebooks, using ChromeOS management to enforce policies and web filtering.12.    Oversees data retention and eDiscovery using Google Vault and manage storage limits across the domain.13.    Uses the Investigation Tool and Security Dashboard to identify trends, mitigate security threats, and audit system usage.14.    Provides orientation, mentoring, training, and staff development for staff. 15.    Provides input into the evaluations of designated technical staff. 16.    Serves on cross-functional teams, as assigned. 17.    Plans state-of-the-art technology developments. 18.    Creates long-range plans for the adoption of new technologies. 19.    Participates in the design of enterprise-wide infrastructure. 20.    Designs and recommends specific technology solutions based on user requirements.21.    Obtains quotes on hardware and software based on design specifications. 22.    Leads research and development related to an assigned system-wide program. 23.    Prepares and conducts technical review of various projects and/or specific incidents. 24.    Reviews hardware and/or software specifications from different departments and analyzes and reports on configuration issues. 25.    Attends meetings to discuss technical requirements26.    May participate in the evaluation of staff. 27.    Works closely with program managers, coordinators, and directors as a technical expert. 28.    Ensures collaboration with other technology teams
