EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Not all duties assigned are included, nor are all duties listed performed in every office.)Applies theories, principles, practical concepts, and processes related to: architectural design, standards, techniques, and practices, traditional engineering science disciplines (e.g., civil, mechanical, and electrical), physical science disciplines (e.g., materials and physics), analytical reasoning and scientific methodology, and interpreting designs, including design manuals.Provides support to Project Management Staff.Collaborates with others on all phases of planning, designing, and constructing a project, from initial discussions to project completion (consultants, planners, school staff, contractors, field staff, inspectors, local code officials, and various internal departments).Assists in coordinating and monitoring construction activities to ensure that all phases of a construction project are completed and within specifications.Maintains school facility design plans, and specifications for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and compliance with educational specifications, regulatory requirements and established guidelines. Assists in preparing written materials for the development and update of construction process and procedures.Reviews capital project plans and specifications and evaluate school facilities.Represents MCPS at community and official meetings which may include parents, teachers, school staff, students, community members, community associations, government agencies and others on a need by basis.Prepares and updates status reports of the project design schedule related to status, permits, and all activities related to the development of construction documents for competitive bidding and permitting in a coordinated and timely fashion. Maintains oversight of the project schedule and report deviations in a timely fashion to the facility manager. Provides technical input and support to the design team in all phases of design and during construction including Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposals (RFP) and Change/Charge Orders. Aids in the construction closeout process as it relates to Operational and Maintenance Manuals (O&M) as well as warranty documentation.Assists in the constructability analysis on projects in the design phase to include but not limited to building, utilities, systems and occupant phasing.Understands and applies the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS) commitment to students, knowledge of job, professionalism, interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem solving.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
