EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, develops, organizes, and coordinates implementation of the MCPS Asbestos program. Conducts complex and sensitive worksite inspections and analysis of considerable scope and intensity relating to the MCPS Asbestos program. Develops asbestos program policy for approval and assists in policy development of other environmental health and safety practices and programs. Investigates diagnoses, evaluates, identifies, and controls all types of environmental and occupational health hazards (physical, chemical, biological, etc.) through the application of established technical standards, operational policies and administrative procedures. Uses a variety of sampling and testing equipment and interprets the results. Reviews and evaluates written reports and recommendations resulting from surveys and analyses. Assists in the development and implementation of training programs. Meets and coordinates with representatives of staff (labor and management), faculty and students concerning goals, policies, and procedures of the MCPS Asbestos Program and other environmental health matters and programs. Provides environmental health consultant services. Manages the work of asbestos abatement contractors. Assists the environmental team leader in carrying out safety and environmental health programs, as assigned. Collaborates with staff in division, department and school Prepares and conducts program awareness and compliance training.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
