WORKING TITLE: Videographer/Editor GRADE: 17 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, performs technical work in the planning and production of informational and web-based television programs. Work of the class involves basic to intermediate knowledge of various phases of television program production including, lighting and videography, audio, basic script writing, and post-production editing. Workers exercise considerable independence in carrying out day-to-day operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of the practices and methods used in instructional and informational TV programming; considerable working knowledge of ENG/EFP and studio equipment. Ability to apply technical knowledge to a wide range of multimedia production problems; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Thorough knowledge of video formats and the preparation of video for webcasting. Thorough working knowledge and the ability to operate the latest broadcast portable and studio video equipment. Ability to edit in non-liner formats. Ability to digest information quickly. Must have thorough knowledge of the operation of broadcast production including videography, audio, non-linear editing equipment, and use of multi-media technology. Must be able to produce and post multimedia products online. Ability to meet daily deadlines. Ability to read, write and produce communications materials in Spanish is strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills required. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree required. Successful completion of major course work in TV production/direction, with three years experience in videography, editing, scripting. Five years of professional broadcast experience. Strong production skills required. Skilled in writing and presenting video on the web. Experience shooting and directing live on tape productions and remote ENG/EFP, field and studio lighting, audio techniques, and nonlinear editing required. Experience working in public information/instructional programs highly desirable. Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement if that experience is consistent with course work described above. Other combinations of applicable education (bachelors degree), training, and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: No
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Must be able to move or carry (using a hand truck) heavy equipment cases up to 35 pounds
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Overtime, night work and weekend work required. Employee must be able to work a flexible time schedule depending upon program project assignment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

¿ Scouts shooting locations, shoots and edits from field and studio productions;

¿ Writes and revises scripts and arranges for sets, props, non-camera visual materials.

¿ Operates teleprompter equipment in studio and the field. 4. Arranges for and transports equipment, and oversees its setup.

¿ Provides lighting, videography and audio for field production and studio operations.

¿ Directs single and multi-camera programs and meetings.

¿ Views and logs videotape and creates editing log.

¿ Edits graphic elements, narration, music and special effects, creates edited version of tape with closing credits using a non-linear editor.

¿ Creates on-line edit master and backup master, produces labels and prepares tape for use.

¿ Shoots, edits, writes, produces and takes still photographs.

¿ Develops compelling feature stories and informational videos for distribution on the web and cable TV. Be able to produce original multimedia content for website.

¿ Produces original multimedia content for website.

¿ Attends unit meetings and writes reports when necessary.

¿ Performs related work as requested.
