Facility Asset Technician

OFFICIAL TITLE: Facility Asset Technician CODE: 7205 SQ/OQ: Optimal Qualified
WORKING TITLE: Facility Asset Technician GRADE: 16 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION; PHYSICAL DEMANDS; AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Summary Description: Under direction of the Automation Team Leader, locates facility equipment throughout the schools, installs and replaces bar-coded asset tags, and updates the facilities asset management and work order system (MAXIMO) records. The work consists of using a laptop or handheld device to enter and update data, and produce reports from the work order/ asset management system. Physical Demands: Occasional sustained operation of keyboard devices and computer terminals, and ability to climb a ladder and physically access all areas of a facility. Special Requirements: Ability to travel between facilities on frequent and unscheduled basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES: Basic knowledge of the operation and components of building systems (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC); electrical; plumbing; and energy management systems (EMS)); knowledge of computerized maintenance management/asset management software, (MAXIMO); Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints. Considerable knowledge of the operation of desktop, laptop, and handheld computers and standard MS/Office software such as, Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of applicable OSHA training safety topics, such as electrical safety, ladder safety, and slip, trips, and falls. Ability to access and utilize data files, layout, modify, update, and format data file structures and produce reports, as required; ability to communicate effectively with others; Ability to maintain accurate records. Good oral and written communications and human relations skills. Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Education Training Experience:High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Coursework in basic engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field. or mechanical training certificated courses. Experience with construction of large buildings and facilities. Experience using standard office software applications such as MS Word, MS Access, EXCEL, or Filemaker Pro, etc. required. Experience in data collection, categorizing data, and maintaining its integrity required. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Possession of a valid Maryland noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver^s license

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Example Duties:1. Updates work order and asset management database.2. Reviews construction blueprints to locate and identify critical building equipment3. Collects data using a handheld computing device4. De-energize equipment, as necessary.5. Produces reports from the asset management and computerized work order management system, (MAXIMO), and makes available to staff as needed. 6. Creates, updates spreadsheet files as needed7. Provides guidance and instruction on the use of the asset management and computerized work order system, (MAXIMO), to facility staff.8. Provides input for the modification and enhancement of the asset management and computerized work order system, as needed.9. May create work orders for equipment repair as needed10. Performs related duties as required.
