EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assures that the school building is clean and in good condition and that the grounds are policed and in good condition by frequent inspection to assure continuance of acceptable standards of cleanliness, sanitation and security. 2. Assists building service manager in scheduling and assignment of work stations for building service workers on an assigned shift and participates in the evaluation of assigned staff. 3. Reports employees' work hours. 4. Supervises the work of building service shift personnel and participates in general cleaning operations: buffing floors, and removing trash from buildings. 5. Removes or requests removal of hazardous materials or conditions. 6. Assists in the cleaning and general upkeep of a school plant. 7. Makes efficient and productive use of materials and manpower by instructing employees in the proper use of time, supplies and equipment, requisitioning and distributing supplies and prescribed methods of cleaning classrooms, lavatories, offices, and other building sections. 8. Assists in training building service staff.9. Regularly checks all areas to insure that they are properly cleaned and that restroom supplies have been replenished. 10. Maintains conditions necessary for occupant comfort, monitoring and adjusting heating and air conditioning equipment, grounds, lawns, shrubbery, walkways, parking areas, and the building in general. 11. Identifies and requests needed repairs or makes emergency repairs and/or adjustments where possible. 12. Checks operating conditions of boilers and other heating, air conditioning, and ventilating equipment; make minor adjustments and routine servicing repairs, maintains time and materials records and prepares routine reports. 13. Assures that all equipment is clean and in proper working order. 14. Maintains adequate security and safety conditions through proper opening and closing of buildings and grounds; checks to see that windows and doors are locked and that no unauthorized persons enter the premises. 15. Oversees implementation of required security procedures when required to do so. 16. Interacts with user groups and all staff moving furniture and equipment to prepare the facility for evening and the next day's use. 17. Confers with building service manager and school staff regarding special activities to be held during evening hours; supervises and participates in the setting up and taking down of chairs and tables. 18. Represents the school administration during the evening interacting with facilities users, answering questions, monitoring proper facilities use, troubleshooting and resolving problems. 19.
