Summary Description:
Under supervision, performs cleaning and food service sanitation activities, trash and debris removal, and operation and maintenance of ware washing and laundry areas in a large central food production facility. Workers receive on the job training in the application of simple manual skills and use of cleaning and sanitation equipment and supplies. Nature of work is repetitive and requires sustained physical effort involving some heavy moving or lifting of objects. Work is performed under the supervision of a cafeteria manager or food service supervisor.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform work requiring sustained moderate physical effort. Movement of objects weighing 40-100 pounds, continuous standing and walking. Requires work in alternating areas of high humidity and low temperatures (maintained at 55-60 degrees).
Special Requirements:
May be required to work overtime or on weekends. |
Knowledge and understanding of the relationship between sanitary food handling techniques and their potential impact on food product safety. Knowledge of food service operations, operation of commercial ware washing equipment and food service sanitation requirements. Ability to work in close proximity with others and under constant deadlines. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).

Education Training Experience:Completion of the ninth grade required. High School or GED diploma preferred. Experience n food sanitation or related field. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Valid Class C noncommercial driver^s license. Sanitation certification required or obtains this certification during the first six months of employment.

Example Duties:1. Cleans, sanitizes, sweeps, vacuums and washes floors, walls, ceilings and other related areas. 2. Operates and maintains automated ware washing and laundry areas. 3. Removes all trash and debris, including packing materials, cardboard, cans, etc., from Central Production facility (CPF). 4. Replaces/cleans lighting tubes/bulbs and cleans lighting fixtures as necessary. 5. Performs a variety of related work as required.
