| Summary Description:
Under direction, has immediate responsibility for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in Day Care Homes in Montgomery County, which includes overseeing office and field operations. The family child care manager initiates and controls ongoing reporting, training, and communication functions of staff and daycare providers; evaluates and ensures compliance of day care providers in the CACFP, in accordance with MSDE, USDA and FDA requirements. Coordinates and supervises the day-to-day work performed by the assistant family child care manager and monitors accountability procedures for day care providers. Responsible for the management of the CACFP program including on-the-job training, scheduling assignment, supervision, and evaluation of the assistant family child care manager. Supervision is received from the Food Service supervisor. Work involves strict adherence to CACFP guidelines. CACFP manager operates under constant deadlines for home monitoring and reporting.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform work requiring considerable standing. Operation of commercial food service equipment and movement of objects weighing 40-60 pounds.
Special Requirements:
Completion of the MCPS Food Service Satellite Manager Test at the required score. Ability to work flexible hours as required. Some overtime may be required. Requires use of personal car for daily home monitor visit duties and meetings, with reimbursement for mileage provided. |

Thorough knowledge of MCPS, MSDE, USDA and Daycare Licensing operation procedures and regulations required. Knowledge of the Serious Deficiency (SD) process. Completion of the MCPS Cafeteria Manager Test at the required score. Ability to work with providers and division leadership staff demonstrating the seven SSPGS core competencies. Considerable knowledge of food preparation, methods and procedures of CACFP menus, and regulations concerning age appropriate menus. Practical knowledge of nutrition. Ability to train, supervise, evaluate and assign work to support staff. Considerable knowledge of business practices, computer skills, English and Arithmetic. Ability to use independent judgment, discretion and exercise sound decision-making in performing duties and properly handle confidential information; ability to maintain professionalism under pressure; effectively manage time, prioritize workload and meet deadlines. This position requires knowledge of all of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS) to include commitment to students, knowledge of job, professionalism, interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem solving. Ability to maintain operating records and prepare and input required reports. Maintain database for internal records and MSDE records. Excellent human relation skills. Ability to determine accuracy of reporting methods. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, conflict management skills, and ability to manage a variety of situations with cultural proficiency. Must have ability to effectively present information to large groups. Must be familiar with and proficient in Excel, Google Docs, Publisher, Outlook and Power Point. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS). |

Education Training Experience:High School or GED diploma required. Completion of the appropriate training programs required for the position. Experience in a supervisory or management capacity in a school or other institutional food service setting and in the operation of a variety of commercial food service equipment required. Experience as a school cafeteria worker preferable. Experience working in an elementary school satellite desirable. Considerable experience using Microsoft Office software products desirable. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Possession of a valid Maryland noncommercial Class C drivers license, or equivalent. Current sanitation and Allertrain certification required. |

Example Duties:Oversees office and field operations, initiates and controls ongoing reporting and communication functions of staff and daycare providersSupervises, assigns work and evaluates the assistant family childcare manager.Trains office staff and providers on KidKare software and troubleshoots common technical issues.Organizes and communicates with the accounting staff to insure proper payments and other financial duties.Establishes schedule for monthly invoice processing and completion as well as home monitoring schedules. Updates web and database information in order to compile the monthly claim for funds.Maintains monthly records for time reporting and budget line item back up.Prepares reports as needed for the yearly budget. Represents the MCPS CACFP program at MSDE and other agency meetings.Supervises and/or participates in the scheduling of home visits and follow up visits.Develops and presents programs for new CACFP providers.Reviews, evaluates and establishes recipes based on program guidelines and standards and in accordance with USDA, FDA and MSDE.Prepares yearly update of FARMS for all CACFP homes. Maintains current knowledge and application of related regulations and legislation.Performs related work as required. |
