| Summary Description:
Under general supervision of the Division of Food and Nutrition Services, reviews food program operations in licensed family day care homes that participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and assesses the quality of overall operations, including on-the-job training, scheduling home reviews and reviewing monthly claim reports. The assistant family child care manager reports to food service supervisors and the family child care manager to receive instructions for further action to improve the quality of operations.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform work requiring considerable standing, operation of commercial food service equipment and movement of objects weighing 40-60 lbs.
Special Requirements:
Completion of the MCPS Cafeteria Manager Test at the required score. Some overtime may be required. Requires use of personal car, with reimbursement for mileage provided. |

Completion of the MCPS Cafeteria Manager Test at the required score. Considerable knowledge of the Child Nutrition Program, food handling techniques, sanitation procedures, and operation of kitchen equipment. Working knowledge of USDA, MSDE and FDA laws and regulations. Ability to train child care providers. Ability to determine accuracy of reporting methods. Excellent communication, human relations and de-escalation skills. Ability to solve problems, work independently, manage priorities and meet deadlines. Skill in computer use in food service operation. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS). |

Education Training Experience:High School or GED diploma required. Completion of the appropriate training programs required for the position. Experience in a school or other institutional food service setting and in the operation of a variety of commercial food service equipment required. Experience as a school cafeteria worker preferable. Considerable experience using Microsoft Office software products, Google applications and Zoom desirable. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Possession of a valid Maryland noncommercial Class C drivers license, or equivalent. Current sanitation certification required. |

Example Duties:1. Visits family child care homes and reviews for regulation compliance and adherence to standards and requirements for food handling, menus and standardized recipes, and licensure for child/staff ratios ..2. Provides information to the food service supervisor/manager relative to findings during the home review.3. Observes and reviews proper food handling and sanitation techniques during home visits.4. Reports daily mileage in the MCPS HUB for monthly reimbursement.5. Responsible for training coordinators on KidKare software and all USDA mandatory standardized recipes.6. Completes annual mandatory home compliance reviews within established timelines.7. Maintains knowledge of current USDA, FDA and MSDE regulations and office handbook.8. Assists in scheduling and maintaining records.9.Performs related duties as required. |
