EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dismantles, repairs, adjusts, rebuilds, and maintains a variety of diesel, hydraulic, 2-cycle and 4-cycle small and mid-size equipment used in maintaining grounds and facilities, including compact diesels, snow blowers, vacuums emergency generators, chain saws and other equipment. Assesses equipment to identify design characteristics and other factors contributing to need for frequent repairs. Overhauls magnetos and carburetors. Repairs/rebuilds hydraulic pumps and hoses, drive shafts, power steering. Makes major and minor tune-ups of equipment. Sharpens and balances cutting blades and checks equipment before returning it to schools. Instructs building service personnel in the safe and proper use, operation, and maintenance of equipment and proper procedures for interchanging mower decks, snowplow, metal cutters and other tools used in the mechanic trade. Delivers oil to schools and makes periodic checks and adjustments to equipment. power lawn and yard equipment. Initiates purchase orders. Maintains repair and maintenance records. Maintains proper inventory levels and records. Performs related work as required.
