EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides primary administrative support to the assistant director of transportation. 2. Provides background research at the director's request. 3. Responds to telephone calls from parents, schools, other MCPS staff, and others concerning transportation issues and any emergencies. 4. Attends meetings and takes notes; sets up and maintains unit files; researches and compiles information for reports and other purposes; prepares written materials from drafts, machine or oral dictation, verbal instructions or on own. 5. Maintains security log for transportation locations. 6. Acts as liaison for the county attorney's office. 7. Maintains data about bus incidents/accidents. 8. Initiates actions to keep assistant director informed of operations and coordinates schedule of assistant director. 9. Assists in office management operations. 10. Instructs and explains matters involving office systems and communications policies and procedures to personnel in divisional subunits; ensures understanding and compliance with established policies and guides. 11. Receives and screens visitors to office. 12. Performs skilled word processing and record-keeping. maintains electronic data files of documents following established procedures for creating backup files, purging files, and storing files. 13. Answers inquiries regarding programs and services, explaining requirements and assisting callers in completing forms or other actions; maintains office or unit records for program and processes actions. 14. Performs related work as required.
