WORKING TITLE: Supply Services Coordinator (Shift 1) GRADE: 17 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under direction, performs responsible work in the coordination of logistical activities in warehouse and distribution services, inventory management, accuracy of orders, and fixed asset inventory management. Employees in this class may be assigned to the areas of general supply and property, textbook supply, or another operational area within the Department of Materials Management and are responsible for the smooth flow of supply service work in the major area of assignment. Duties involve coordinating the work of crews comprised of warehouse workers, truck driver/warehouse workers, and temporary help in the receipt, storage and delivery of supplies, furniture, and other materials. Employees in this class serve as the DMM liaison to the Department of Facilities Management staff for projects. Employees in this class support the training for OSHA approved certification in the operation of industrial material handling equipment. Work problems involving significant departure from a standard policy or procedure are reviewed with superiors for a final decision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of requirements for operating trucks weighing up to 53,200 lbs. gross vehicle weight as set forth by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) and in the Maryland Motor Carrier Handbook. Knowledge of OSHA requirements in the operation of powered industrial material handling equipment Knowledge of purchasing procedures and the financial management system. Ability to organize, assign, and inspect the, work of crews to coordinate logistical operations. Ability to assess used furniture for needs for another location. Ability to work effectively with others. Strong human relations and communications skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree preferred. Completion of some course work in warehousing, distribution services or a related field and supervisory practices desirable. Considerable experience of a progressively responsible nature in scheduling and coordinating logistical operations. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid Maryland commercial class B driver's license or equivalent. Completion of an OSHA approved certification program in the operation of power industrial equipment, or the ability to complete within the first six months
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Ability to move heavy objects weighing up to 100 lbs. and to perform work requiring sustained moderatephysical effort. Ability to work in zero degree freezer for considerable periods of time requested forsome positions.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Schedules and coordinates the delivery of furniture and materials to schools and offices.

Directs the work of employees moving supplies, furniture, books, and surplus items within the warehouse facility, from various locations to the central warehouse, from the central warehouse to individual schools, and between schools for moves.

Checks completed paperwork for accuracy and completeness.

Serves as the DMM liaison to the Department of Facilities Management, specifically the Division of Construction and the Division of School Plant Operations, during construction projects.

Coordinates and supports the moves of schools and offices.

Coordinates the moves of food and nutrition service equipment.

Serves as a back-up to the DMM operational areas.

Operates forklifts and other powered industrial trucks and instructs staff in the safe operation of such equipment.

Supports the training as required for OSHA approved certification in the operation of industrial material handling equipment.

Reports worker injuries and prepares appropriate paperwork.

Operates trucks weighing up to 53,200 lbs. gross vehicle weight as required.

Prepares accurate reports.

Assists in the development of and maintains a customer feedback program.

Inspects and assess old furniture for use in multiple locations.

Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
