This report summarizes the results of the kindergarten initiatives that began in fall 2000 and have now encompassed three phrases of schools implementing full-day kindergarten programs. It focuses on the benefits of the program on kindergarten reading performance, whether these benefits are sustained through grade 2, whether there are differential performance patterns for students receiving special services or for racial/ethnic subgroups, and links to performance on nationally normed assessments.
