The districtwide priority to increase the successful completion rates of students in Algebra 1, Geometry, or higher-level mathematics continues to show strong results. Overall, 75 percent of last year's Grade 9 students successfully completed Algebra 1 or higher-level mathematics, representing approximately 8,800 students. Additionally, 49 percent of Grade 8 students successfully completed Algebra 1 or higher-level mathematics, which represents approximately 5,300 students. The completion rates also include approximately one quarter of all African American and Hispanic students, reflecting a steady increase over previous years but still well below white and Asian American students.
