In school year 2012, the percentage of primary students who met or exceeded grade-level reading benchmarks on the Montgomery County Public Schools' (MCPS) Assessment Program in Primary Reading (AP-PR) remained steady for kindergarten and Grade 2 students and slightly decreased from the previous year for Grade 1 students. The proportion of kindergartners who achieved proficiency at Text Level 6—which corresponds with Key 1 of the Seven Keys to College and Career Readiness—remained at a similar level as the previous year for all racial/ethnic groups.
