Four members of the Board of Education were sworn in at a December 1 ceremony held at the Carver Educational Services Center in Rockville.

Sharon Cox, current president of the Board of Education and at-large member, was re-elected in November for a second four-year term.

Steve Abrams, who previously served on the Board from 1992 to 1996 and from 1998 to 2002 representing District 2, and Valerie Ervin, new representative of District 4, also were elected in the November general election, each for a four-year term.

Nancy Navarro was appointed by the Board of Education at a public meeting on November 20 to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Henry Lee in District 5. Her term will expire in 2006.
