The Montgomery County Board of Education is seeking community members, representatives of organizations, and public high school students to serve on a newly reconstituted Family Life and Human Development Advisory Committee. The committee serves in an advisory capacity to consult with professional educators within the school system in the course of their developing, implementing, and evaluating the family life and human development program.

Appointments are for two years for adults and one year (July through June) for students, except that the terms of the initial appointments of the reconstituted committee shall be for a lesser term reflective of their appointment subsequent to July 1st. Unless exempted by the Board, no member shall serve for more than two consecutive terms. Members serve without compensation.

The Board of Education makes every effort to appoint advisory committees in which the membership is balanced by geographic area, race, ethnicity, gender, and range of viewpoints, but the final selection of all individual members, organizational members, and organizational representatives will be at the discretion of the Board. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply. Organizations also are invited to nominate individuals, provided that they submit one nominee and two alternate nominees for the Board's consideration and a mission statement for their organization on official letterhead. All applicants must be bona fide residents of Montgomery County. Individuals who served on this committee previously are not eligible to be considered for appointment.

Applications must be received by close of business on Friday, September 9, 2005, for appointments to be made by the Board of Education at the Board meeting on October 11, 2005.
