The Board of Education has requested community comment regarding its revised Policy IQD, Academic Eligibility for Extracurricular Activities, which sets forth the academic eligibility standards for middle and high school student participation in some extracurricular activities.

The policy articulates the Board's commitment to providing an array of extracurricular opportunities for students and emphasizing the necessity of having both extracurricular activities requiring academic eligibility and those predicated on open enrollment.

Individuals who wish to provide comments should respond in writing by January 11, 2006. All responses should be sent to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, Maryland 20850. The responses will be shared with the Board of Education.
