Training for facilitators for the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Study Circles Program has been scheduled during January in order to provide additional leadership for this expanding program.

Study Circles is a dialogue and action program that works with schools to address barriers to student achievement and parent involvement. The program helps schools to confront issues of race and ethnicity with diverse parents, teachers, and students.

Participants in the facilitator training will receive instruction in multicultural and group process skills, a Certificate of Completion, and a stipend when they facilitate a full study circle. This is a 14-hour training, and participants must attend all sessions. Dates and times are below:

· Saturday, January 21, from 9 am to 5 pm
· Tuesday, January 24, from 6 to 9 pm
· Wednesday, January 25, from 6 to 9 pm

A required orientation will be held on January 11, 2006, from 6:30-7:30 pm at 451 Hungerford Drive, Suite 508, Rockville, MD 20850.
