Statement of the Montgomery County Board of Education Officers Regarding the Recommended Fiscal Year 2009 Operating Budget Announced by County Executive Isiah Leggett


The following statement was issued by Montgomery County Board of Education President Nancy Navarro and Vice President Shirley Brandman in response to the recommended Fiscal Year 2009 Operating Budget announced this morning by County Executive Isiah Leggett.

“The Board of Education’s FY 2009 Operating Budget request is a measured proposal in recognition of the difficult fiscal times that we face. Given the serious fiscal situation, our budget already directed significant savings to be used to fund next year's budget. We will carefully review the details of the County Executive's proposal and stand ready and willing to work collaboratively with the County Council and the County Executive to reach a balanced budget that protects our children’s future as a priority.”
