Absentee Ballot Information for Special Election on April 18 for Montgomery County Council District 1
The following is summary information provided by the Board of Election Supervsors regarding absentee ballots:
TO OBTAIN AN ABSENTEE BALLOT YOU MUST MEET ONE OF THE QUALIFICATIONS LISTED BELOW:

You may apply for an Absentee Ballot via the Internet at the Montgomery County, MD Board of Elections Home Page or by contacting the Absentee Office at the Board of Elections by telephone at 240 777-8550; by mail at P.O. Box 4333, Rockville, MD 20849-4333; by e-mail at absentee@co.mo.md.us or by fax at 240 777-8560. The 24 Hour Absentee Information telephone number is: 240 777-8565.
The deadline for receipt of Absentee Ballot Applications for the Special General Election is April 11, 2000.
Except as provided for in the two paragraphs below, any Absentee Ballot whether mailed or hand-delivered, is timely received if it reaches the election office no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Domestic Ballots Received By Mail After Election
Any ballot received in the mail shall be considered timely if it arrives no later than 4:00 p.m. on the Wednesday following Election Day (April 19, 2000 for the Special General Election) and the U.S. Postal Service has provided verification that it was mailed before Election Day by affixing a mark on the covering envelope, or in the event there is no postmark, the voter affidavit on the ballot envelope indicates that it was completed and mailed before election day.
Overseas Ballots Received By Mail After Election Day
Any ballot received in the mail from locations outside the United States shall be considered timely if it arrives no later than 4:00 p.m. on the second Friday following the election (April 28, 2000 for the Special General Election) and the U.S. Postal Service, an Army post office, a fleet post office, or the postal service of any other country has provided verification that it was mailed before Election Day by affixing a mark on the covering envelope, or in the event there is no postmark, the voter affidavit on the ballot envelope indicates that it was completed and mailed before election day.
