MCPS Educator to be Named “Most Hopeful Teacher in America”

Experts to discuss importance of hope in education

An educator from Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will be named “The Most Hopeful Teacher in America” on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, during an event at Gallup World Headquarters in Washington, D.C. In addition to the naming of the first “Most Hopeful Teacher,” the event will focus on the importance of hope in education and what schools with high hope do differently to help students succeed. The event will feature one of the nation’s foremost researchers on the topic. MCPS has made Social Emotional Learning an important part of its Strategic Planning Framework, which will guide the work of the system in the years to come. MCPS is using survey data to track the hope, engagement, and well-being of students in grades 5-12.

When: Wednesday, August 21, 2013, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
