Thomas Wootton High School in Rockville will open on Wednesday, September 6 -- one day later than the rest of the school system -- to allow the school's instructional staff additional time to prepare amid an ongoing construction effort at the school.

The school will be physically ready for students on Tuesday but not all classrooms were prepared in time for teachers to properly set up their instructional program for effective teaching and learning. School had been scheduled to start on time on Tuesday, September 5.

The school is undergoing $16 million construction project, including a 28-room addition, which is scheduled to be completed next year.

All other schools are opening on time on Tuesday, September 5.
