Broad Acres ES Renaming Committee to Meet August 19

More than 200 members of the Broad Acres Elementary School community have signed a petition asking the Board of Education to consider renaming the school for its former principal, Mrs. JoAnn “Jody” Leleck. In accordance with Board Policy FFA—Naming School Facilities, the Board of Education will consider renaming a facility if there is considerable support within the school community.

MCPS Regulation FFA-RA—Naming School Facilities requires the principal and parents of Broad Acres to create a committee of community members to consider the proposal and make a recommendation to the Superintendent of Schools. Once the Superintendent has received the recommendation, he can bring a proposal for the Montgomery County Board of Education to consider.

The Broad Acres renaming committee will meet on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 3:30 p.m., in the media center of Broad Acres Elementary School, 710 Beacon Road, in Silver Spring.
