WHAT:           

Students and school staff of South Lake Elementary School will welcome elected

officials, former Redskins Running Back Brian Mitchell and a local dairy farmer to

celebrate the importance of classroom breakfast through the Maryland Meals for

Achievement (MMFA) School Program.  This universal free in-classroom breakfast

program began twenty years ago as a pilot at only six schools, including South Lake

Elementary. Currently, there are 451 MMFA schools with over 240,000 students

benefiting from the state funded program.

Students will have the opportunity to meet the former NFL player, read their Valentine’s Day Cards to the state leaders and present various breakfast themes performances.

Invited guests, including Brian Mitchell, visit classrooms with students: 8:35 - 9:05 a.m.

School Assembly:  9:15 – 10:25 a.m.

Former NFL player address students during assembly:  9:45 – 10:10 a.m.
