Student Identification Badges

October 28, 1999
The implementation of identification badges for high school students and staff has been delayed following concerns by principals and students.

At a meeting yesterday [Wednesday, October 28] with student government representatives, Dr. Steven G. Seleznow, deputy superintendent for education, informed the students that the badges would be delayed until the 2000-2001 school year. Members of the news media were present and reported this decision in today's newspapers. High school principals had requested such a delay earlier this year in order to address implementation issues.

An appropriate timeline for successfully implementing this initiative next year will be developed in collaboration with principals and School Safety and Security.
