The Montgomery County Board of Education today [Tuesday, July 6] elected Patricia B. O’Neill (District 3) to complete the remainder of the term of vice president vacated by the resignation last month of Reginald Felton.

Mrs. O’Neill was elected after a record-setting 22 ballots in a close contest with Dr. Charles Haughey (At-Large) for a term that will end in November 2004. The Board will elect new officers in December.

Mrs. O’Neill, whose current Board membership ends in 2006, is chair of the Board’s Audit Committee and the secretary for the Maryland Association of Boards of Education. She has served twice before as both president and vice president of the Montgomery County Board of Education.
