MCPS College Fair is Scheduled for April 20 and 21
April 8, 2005
The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) College Fair is an annual two-day event co-sponsored by MCPS and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC). In operation since 1979, the MCPS College Fair is one of the largest college fairs held on the east coast. This event enables juniors from all MCPS high schools to interact directly with college admissions representatives from over 250 colleges from more than 30 states, the District of Columbia, and several foreign countries.
This year, the MCPS College Fair will be held at the Montgomery County Fair Grounds on Wednesday, April 20, and Thursday, April 21, from 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Juniors from half of the high schools within MCPS will attend the fair during the morning of April 20, while the juniors from the other half of MCPS high schools will attend the fair during the morning of April 21. Students will be transported to the fair by school bus and may not drive to the fair themselves.
There will be an evening session of the fair on April 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. that will be open to the general public. This is an excellent time for parents to attend the fair and talk directly with the college admissions representatives. In addition, there will be a financial aid workshop for parents on the evening of April 20 at 7:15 p.m. The evening session of the college fair is also an opportunity for sophomores and younger students to get a start on gathering information for their college search process.
Registration and orientation materials for the fair are being distributed to students at MCPS high schools. Further information about how to prepare for and benefit from this and other college fairs can be found at the link below.
