The Board of Education has approved a calendar of events for the election of the 23rd student member of the Board of Education. The calendar was submitted by the Montgomery County Region of the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MCR), which conducts the annual election.
A candidate for student member of the Board must be a 10th or 11th grade student currently enrolled in Montgomery County Public Schools. Secondary students who attend Montgomery County Public Schools are eligible to vote in the election.
The calendar of events includes:
Advertising Period: December 7-23, 1999
Filing period: January 3-21, 2000
Nominating Convention: March 9, 2000
Town Meeting*: March 9, 2000
General Campaign Period: March 16-May 4, 2000
Town Meeting II*: March 16, 2000
General Election: May 4, 2000
*In the event that no more than two eligible students file for the office, two half-day town meetings will be held in place of the all-day nominating convention.
