Swearing-In Ceremony for Student Member of the Board Canceled

The swearing-in ceremony for the 35th Student Member of the Montgomery County Board of Education, scheduled for Monday evening, has been canceled.

John Mannes, a rising senior at Northwest High School, was due to be sworn in on Monday, July 2, at 7 p.m., but the ceremony has been canceled due to emergency conditions caused by Friday's violent weather. Mr. Mannes will be sworn in before the next Board of Education meeting.

Mr. Mannes succeeds Alan Xie, a Richard Montgomery graduate who served as SMOB for the past two years.
