Office Depot is donating more than 500 backpacks filled with school supplies to students at New Hampshire Estates Elementary School. Each backpack contains such essential items as pencils, rulers, safety scissors, glue sticks, composition books, crayons, and colored pencils.

Approximately 40 of the backpacks will be presented to a group of students during a press conference in the school media center on Tuesday, August 8, at 10:00 a.m. The remaining backpacks will be delivered in time for the opening of school.

More than three quarters of the students at New Hampshire Estates receive school meals through the Free and Reduced-price Meals System, available to low income families.

In addition to representatives from Office Depot, Board of Education member Mona Signer, County Executive Douglas Duncan, and members of the County Council are scheduled to be present at the event.
