| Summary Description: Under the direction of the coordinator Communications, Community and Systemwide Information, the Regions Support Team Leader serves as the lead communications and engagement liaison for two MCPS regions, providing leadership and coordination of regional communications, engagement, and recognition activities. Works closely with schools, regional school directors, and the Coordinator of the Regions Support Team to develop, coordinate and implement regionwide communication strategies and priorities. Leads the development and coordination of communications, publications, digital messaging and engagement initiatives that support regional priorities and MCPS strategic objectives. Responsible for capturing, preparing and posting editorial content, producing stories, creating photos and videos, drafting community messages, supporting social media, and contributing to newsletters and website content. Provides on-the-ground support at engagement events, regional meetings, and school activities to strengthen two-way communication.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds to transport equipment necessary for the work.
Special Requirements: Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to work evenings and weekends for community and school events. Work requires frequent travel between schools, attendance at evening events and the capacity to work under rapid deadlines.

Education Training Experience: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, education, or related field.Minimum of 5years of experience in communications, journalism, or community outreach.One year of experience in a leadership role (formal or informal).Bilingual (Spanish preferred) a benefit but not required.Experience with photography and digital/social media preferred.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily to schools and events. |
