| Summary Description: The Team Leader, Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) assists the director in the planning and execution of a variety of programs, projects and activities related to maintenance, and facility system functions for all Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) facilities. Develops and sustains a system of delivering high quality, high performance products and services. Assists with the development and implementation of process, strategy and procedures to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall effectiveness of the Department. Effectively leads the Department in the systems commitment to equity and excellence for all staff and students. Supports the implementation of new technology resources and monitors for operational effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Thorough knowledge of effective process and procedures of facilities maintenance. Knowledge and experience in facilities maintenance, planning and management. Ability to perform, without direct supervision, continuing assignments requiring the organization of labor and materials. Ability to lead, train and professionally develop staff. Ability to implement department wide common systems and designing work processes and measurements to align with the Division of Facilities Management initiatives. Possess and display positive leadership traits, good human relations skills and competent oral and written communication skills. Thorough knowledge of MCPS policies, regulations, and practices. |

Education Training Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, business administration, or related field. Minimum of five years of professional experience in facilities maintenance or a related field, including progressive management experience dealing with multiple projects and diverse teams. Other combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to effectively assist and manage the department may be considered. Certificate License: Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver’s license. |

Assists in oversight of all processes related to the mission and vision of the department to ensure efficient and effective delivery of service to customers. Supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel. Assists with the development and management of annual reports due to leadership and the Board of Education (BOE). Communicates with other administrators, personnel, and external organizations to coordinate activities and programs. Facilitates and leads process improvement teams. Assists with the implementation of tools and technologies to improve department wide performance. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Represents the department at various departmental and cross-functional meetings as required. Understands and applies the six leadership standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals (MCAAP/MCBOA) Professional Growth System (PGS). Performs other related duties as assigned. |
