SUMMARY DESCRIPTION; PHYSICAL DEMANDS; AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Summary Description: Under the direction of the deputy chief, Division of Communications, oversees and coordinates the daily operations of MCPS Multimedia Services, including production, programming, publicity, and multimedia support needs of MCPS. Produces and directs programs as assigned and collaborates with engineering staff to ensure technical quality and operational efficiency. Responsible for assuring creative and technical excellence during planning and production, maintaining performance data, and ensuring the timely completion of department functions. Collaborates with Division of Communications leadership and the Regions Support Team to elevate regional priorities, school achievements, recognitions, and community engagement efforts through multimedia storytelling, live coverage, and broadcast programming. Supports systemwide visibility of MCPS initiatives and ensures equitable representation of schools and communities across all regions. Assists with strategic planning, data analysis, reporting, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with MCPS divisions and external partners. Leads and supervises the Multimedia Services unit, including oversight of staff scheduling, time and attendance approval, and leave management. Physical Demands: Must be able to carry up to 35 lb. of equipment. Special Requirements: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to manage, schedule, produce, shoot, and edit multimedia productions in studio and field environmentsWorking knowledge of digital cameras, studio and field lighting, multi-camera switching, digital switchers, and non-linear editing systems.Knowledge of multimedia storytelling principles and visual communication strategies that support public engagement and organizational priorities.Ability to align multimedia production with editorial priorities, regional initiatives, and strategic communications goals.Skill in capturing and presenting school achievements, recognitions, and community engagement efforts in compelling formats.Strong interpersonal, leadership, and collaboration skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight production deadlines.Knowledge or ability to quickly learn and apply of the six leadership standards established for the MCAAP/MCBOA Professional Growth System (PGS). 
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Education, Training, Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with considerable coursework in mass communications and public/business administration. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience in professional television, broadcast, or multimedia production, including producing and directing programming, managing production operations, collaborating with engineering or technical staff, and overseeing daily broadcast or multimedia services.Experience in managing multiple projects, developing and maintaining budgets, and establishing and monitoring staff schedules to ensure deadlines are met. Experience as a producer/director/writer. Supervisory experience required to oversee all major projects, systemwide live events. Experience in maintaining and analyzing performance data. Certificate License: None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Example Duties: Operations Leadership-- Coordinates and manages daily operations of MCPS Multimedia Services, including production, programming, scheduling, publicity, and budgeting.Supervises production staff and ensures the timely completion of projects and broadcasts.Participates in staff evaluations by observing performance and providing related data to leadership.Coordinates and oversees staff scheduling, time and attendance approval, and leave management.Coordinates technical and engineering activities with the chief engineer to maintain operational readiness.Production Programming--Produces, directs, and edits programs and systemwide productions as needed.Supervises live broadcasts and multimedia coverage of Board of Education meetings and major system events.Ensures creative and technical excellence across studio, field, and live productions.Regional Community Visibility--Collaborates with the Regions Support Team and Division of Communications staff to provide multimedia coverage that elevates regional initiatives, school achievements, recognitions, and community engagement efforts.Supports coverage of milestone celebrations, recognition events, and systemwide and regional engagement activities.Helps amplify regional priorities and initiatives through video storytelling and broadcast programming.Ensures equitable representation of schools, students, staff, and communities across all MCPS regions.Editorial Strategic Alignment--Works with Division of Communications leadership to align multimedia storytelling with editorial priorities and strategic initiatives.Develops multimedia content to support digital platforms, newsletters, and social media distribution.Ensures visual messaging reflects MCPS values, equity priorities, and community engagement efforts.Data, Reporting Planning--Ensures accurate collection of production and programming data.Analyzes performance metrics and prepares reports to support strategic planning and resource allocation.Assists leadership with long-range planning, budget monitoring, and workflow improvements.Collaboration Liaison--Serves as liaison with MCPS offices, schools, and departments to support multimedia and production needs.Supports systemwide live events and special productions in collaboration with internal teams and community partners.Works with external partners including Montgomery Community Television, Montgomery College and Montgomery Technology and Enterprise Business Solutions to develop and comply with Memorandums of Understanding and Contracts for cable franchise funding.Other Duties--Organizes and participates in productions as required.Performs related work as assigned.
