| Summary Description: Under the direction of the Director of the Department of Cybersecurity and Technology Infrastructure, defines, leads, and supervises staff in managing, troubleshooting, and designing a complex network infrastructure in a large wide-area network environment with zero trust network architecture, routing, switching, local area networks (wired and wireless), firewalls, secure service edge, secure access service edge, cloud network architecture, intrusion detection/prevention systems, proxy servers, log aggregation technology, virtual private networks, as well as security best practices, disaster recovery and business continuity practices. Leads and supervises ITSSs and ITSEs working in the fields of Networking, Voice Over IP and Cybersecurity. Manages projects and establishes processes and procedures that support all aspects of the network infrastructure and cybersecurity. Collaborates with key stakeholders including central services staff, school-based staff, as well as business partners.

Thorough knowledge of and ability to implement, operate and maintain the following technologies: network protocols, BGP, EIGRP, IPSec, NAT/PAT, QoS, Multicast, STP, 10GigE, GigE, encryption/description, certificates, end-point protection. Ability to manage, develop staff, and resources for multiple projects effectively in order to achieve results on time and within budget by using project management skills to organize complex tasks. Ability to cross-team collaborate with other departments and offices to identify and address user requirements for system functionality. Thorough knowledge and competency in understanding the modern approach to network security, security controls, cybersecurity risk identification and mitigation. Thorough knowledge and competency in understanding the need for and use of encryption, network traffic collection and analysis tools, malware identification tools, web content filtering systems and dynamic routing protocols specifically; IPSec and DMVPN. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills. Thorough knowledge of a variety of enterprise-class network equipment, such as but not limited to routers, switches, and gateway products. Thorough knowledge of software defined network architecture, cloud network architecture, and enterprise architecture principles and practices. Ability to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment. Ability to effectively lead work teams and facilitate process design sessions. Ability to determine priorities, allocate resources, manage projects, measure and analyze results. Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work with tight deadlines. Skilled in documenting network and cybersecurity standard operating procedures, system configurations and design diagrams.Skilled in applying proven interpersonal tactics for anticipating and diffusing negative client response. Education Training Experience: Master’s degree in computer science or any equivalent master’s degree necessary to perform effectively in the position. A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing IT staff developing, supporting enterprise wide projects and end users. Other combinations of applicable education, training and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License: CISSP or equivalent security certification as well as Network+, CCNA or equivalent network certification. |
