WORKING TITLE: IT Systems Specialist, IT Security GRADE: 18-25 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under the direction of the Supervisor of Telecommunications and IT Security, supports the work required to develop and maintain system-wide network and security architectures, strategies, and technology implementations. This position assists with or takes the lead on managing web filtering, responding to security events and IT Security related tickets, reviewing logs and other data from monitoring tools to help with correlating events as a proactive security measure, assists with security investigations, maintaining backups of security/network devices, and managing and maintaining vulnerability scanners.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: A solid understanding of firewall technologies including internet work flow between firewall zones, complex inbound\outbound policies, SSL inspection, and Web Filtering to meet CIPA compliance and to protect enterprise resources. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills for troubleshooting client-server applications and their vulnerabilities. Strong knowledge of server and client vulnerabilities. Ability to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment. Ability to determine priorities, allocate resources, manage projects, measure and analyze results. Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to learn quickly in various technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work on tight deadlines. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of and the ability to meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree required. College course work in computer related fields. Three years or more of progressively more responsible experience in managing and trouble-shooting a complex network infrastructure in WAN environment and administration. Other combinations of applicable education, and training, which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or above or Network Security related certification preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Night or weekend work may be required on rare occasions.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all tasks associated with the IT systems support specialist. Prioritizes, schedules, and allocates technology support resources for the implementation assigned. Monitors network management and performance software and applications. Assists with establishing security documentation (Incident Response plans, Log review, vulnerability scans, etc.) Assists with maintaining security policy consistency at all entry\exit points of the network. Assists in maintaining and managing Authentication Services and Network Access Control. Diagnoses and assists in the resolution of complex issues related to infrastructure, Firewalls, Web filters, servers, VoIP, wireless infrastructure, and local and wide area networks. Serves on cross-functional teams, as assigned. Attends meetings to discuss technical requirements. Works closely with program managers, coordinators, and directors as a technical expert. Ensures collaboration with other technology teams. Performs related duties as assigned.
