WORKING TITLE: Data Control Technician I GRADE: 13 MONTHS: 12
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: Under general supervision, coordinates packing and delivery of bulk printed correspondence from MCPS Data Control (i.e., report cards, transcripts, schedule cards, replacement report cards, and timesheets). Staff in this position must check controls on completed print jobs to ensure jobs have been processed correctly, and arrange for distribution to end users. Work requires frequent contact with end users to explain distribution procedures, schedules and to resolve issues. Nature of work requires physical effort involving some heavy moving or lifting of boxes. Employees frequently are exposed to data of a confidential nature and are responsible for assuring the safe and proper treatment of such data.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and understanding of the need for student data and the potential impact on school performance. Ability to work in close proximity with others and under constant deadlines. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions. Knowledge of MCPS school organization a plus. Ability to communicate effectively with users and willingness to function on different tasks/teams as assigned. Good human relations and communications skills. Excellent attention to detail. Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: High School or GED diploma required. Successful completion of computer operations training. Some experience in data control, data processing, or closely related areas that provide familiarity with various operating systems and standards used in the MCPS print center. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS: None
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing.) Positions operate computer workstations for sustained periods of time. Daily lifting of boxes of forms and printouts weighing between 5-50 pounds. Daily reaching and bending to put materials in bins and boxes.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: (Frequent overtime or night work required, etc.) Ability to work overtime required by recurring seasonal/priority processing work. Work is subject to inflexible deadlines.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate Packing and Delivery for all reports coming from Data Control (i.e., Report Cards, Transcripts, Schedule Cards, Replacement Report Cards, Timesheets)
Coordinate availability of U Boats and shrink wrap with mail room
Coordinate availability of bulk correspondence packaging such as boxes/envelopes/labels
Monitor/Pick up output of print jobs
Sort output of print jobs
Deliver samples to schools for review
Label boxes and correspondence for clear identification by end users
Pack and seal large boxes of school correspondence
Coordinate delivery of large correspondence jobs with the mailroom for delivery to schools and other offices
Coordinate pulling of mailers by schools
Coordinate delivery to mailroom.
Performs related work as required.
