EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Installs athletic scoreboards, light and flag poles, backstops, etc., as part of school facilities maintenance. 2. Constructs forms for concrete walkways, pours and finishes cement. 3. Clears grades and prepares surfaces for blacktopping. Assists masons in block and brick work. 4. Operates backhoe and trenchers in the installation and repair of electric, sewer, and water lines. 5. Assists trades workers in running cables and piping or putting in underground drains. 6. Cuts and levels swales, digs footings, and braces fencing. 7. Saws and chops trees, branches and roots. 8. Lays sod, trims trees and shrubbery and performs varied landscaping duties. 9. Operates forklifts to lift materials or heavy equipment at assigned job sites. 10. Constructs, installs, and repairs a variety of building supports and fixtures. 11. Builds and places forms for steps, curbs, sidewalks, small foundations, and other work. 12. Does finished cement work. 13. Operates hand, power and farm type tractor lawn mowers. 14. Cuts weeds and brush and rakes leaves and grass. 15. Cuts down and removes trees and shrubs. 16. Collects trash and refuse and loads it into a truck. 17. Removes graffiti from building and grounds surfaces. Uses various means including stripping, sand blasting, washing, bleaching and painting. 18. Acts as lead worker of a small crew and participates in a variety of grounds maintenance projects such as: grading, sodding, and seeding of landscape areas; repairing blacktop sidewalks, driveways, and playgrounds; installing goal posts, score boards, and back stops; maintaining ball fields, cinder tracks, and other athletic areas; and operating bulldozers, bucket trucks, and graders. 19. Performs related work as required.
