EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strips off torn or defective fabric; removes frame tacks, staples and fasteners; inspects furniture for structural weakness and reinforces or glues as necessary; replaces or repairs broken springs. Stretches and tacks webbing across furniture frame; rebuilds seat foundation, covering inner coils with burlap; cuts and layers padding/cushioning material; measures, matches, and sews outside fabrics; attaches decorative buttons, beads, etc. Reupholsters miscellaneous items such as school and office chairs, auditorium seats, sofas, truck and mattress covers, gym pads, etc.; inspects work to be performed and obtains estimates on price and delivery time of needed materials; maintains records of work performed. May, on occasion, check, replace or install gymnastic equipment; maintain blinds, shades, screens, curtains; and similar school and office items. Performs related work as required.
