EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs certain dispatching functions including radio communications, answering telephone calls from customers, and assigning substitutes to routes.2. Supervises substitute bus operators and attendants. 3. Responds to calls to take over routes because of breakdowns and accidents. 4. Operates a school bus in transporting children to and from schools; may transport students on field trips and outings. 5. Operates vehicle in compliance with state and county laws and departmental regulations. 6. Takes driving precautions to avoid accidents. 7. Maintains order among students aboard school bus and reports cases of misbehavior to school officials. 8. Completes pre- and post-trip inspections of bus. 9. Checks fuel, oil, and water daily. 10. Responsible for appearance of assigned vehicle and for reporting mechanical defects upon detection to repair shop. 11. Keeps records of operation of bus and submits required reports; compiles and submits accident report information and reports prolonged traffic delays. 12. Attends safety meetings. 13. Forward written and oral messages; gathers loan counts and route data; and performs other work of a similar nature. 14. Performs related work as required.
