Dr. Taylor Unanimously Appointed Superintendent
Dr. Thomas Taylor, MCPS alum, was formally appointed as the next leader for Maryland’s largest school district during the Montgomery County Board of Education’s June 25 meeting. Over the past week, the community had the opportunity to learn more about Dr. Taylor and his vision for MCPS.
Dr. Taylor will assume the role of superintendent in July and he is already preparing. Last week, he asked for families, students, staff, and community members to share their thoughts in this short survey. This information will not only help him become familiar with MCPS’ challenges and opportunities, it will help inform the next strategic plan.
Dr. Felder’s “Steadfast Commitment” Recognized
The Board recognized the contributions of Interim Superintendent Dr. Monique Felder’s work to create stability for the school system and ensure a smooth transition for the next superintendent.
“Dr. Felder saw us through this important period of transition with steady and thoughtful leadership,” said Board President Karla Silvestre. “Her work paved a runway for our new superintendent to begin work this summer. On behalf of the Board, I share my gratitude to Dr. Felder.”
