Congratulations 2024 Distinguished Service Award Recipients
On Tuesday, May 7, the Board celebrated its 2024 Awards for Distinguished Service to Public Education. The event honored twelve individuals, groups, and organizations that have made exemplary contributions to public education in Montgomery County.
Superintendent Search
The Board of Education is reviewing incoming applications for MCPS superintendent of schools.
To ensure candidates' right to privacy, the Board is unable to provide details about individuals who have applied or are being considered for the position. Updates on the process will be shared and the public is encouraged to stay informed and engaged by visiting the MCPS Superintendent Search webpage.
May 9 Business Meeting
At the May 9 business meeting, the Board held a discussion about the importance of attendance and strategies to address the increasing rates of chronic absenteeism. MCPS prioritizes strategies that prevent issues, solve problems, and consider trauma when tackling chronic absenteeism. The district places special importance on involving both families and students.
The May 9 business meeting is the final business meeting to be held in the historic Carver Educational Services Center. The Board will be occupying its new meeting space at 15 West Gude Drive, Rockville, starting with the May 23 business meeting.
