2024 Graduation Season is Underway!

Graduation ceremonies kicked off this week for the more than 12,000 students expected to receive their high school diplomas. Seniors at Montgomery Blair, Damascus, Wheaton and Paint Branch High Schools and John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (RICA) became the first students to receive their high school diplomas. Ceremonies will continue with Winston Churchill, Poolesville, Quince Orchard and Thomas S. Wootton high schools . Read more.

Friday, May 31 Deadlines: Regional and Central High School Summer School and Student Service Learning Hours Forms

Session one of the Regional Summer High School Program (in person) and Central High School Summer Program (virtual) enrollment closes Friday, May 31. Payments are due by June 16 or the student will be withdrawn from the course. The first session will run from June 26–July 16 (no class on July 4); the second session will run from July 18–Aug. 6. Session 2 enrollment closes Sunday, June 30. Parents can register students on their ParentVue accounts. The deadline to turn in  Student Service Learning (SSL) forms  is Friday, May 31. All SSL forms for any service completed after June 1, 2023, must be submitted to a student’s SSL middle school coordinator or high school coordinator by the systemwide deadline of Friday, May 31. After May 31, SSL forms will no longer be accepted for service completed during the 2023–2024 school year or the summer prior. Students must earn 75 SSL hours in order to graduate  high school.

Pride Community Day Set for June 1

Pride Community Day will be held from 1:30–5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. This family-friendly event will include a talent show, games, DJ and dancing, crafts, storytime, food trucks and prizes. There will also be a resource fair and workshops geared toward caregivers and staff. Read more


Mark Your Calendars for the Annual Back-to-School Fair  

MCPS is hosting its annual Back-to-School Fair on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Westfield Wheaton mall. The event is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn about the school system and county programs and services. Enjoy free music, entertainment, giveaways and family activities. There will also be an immunization clinic. Free bus shuttle transportation will be provided.

Westfield Wheaton is located at 11160 Veirs Mill Road. Stay tuned to the website for updates throughout the summer.


Donate Today to the GIVE BACKpacks Campaign

Help students in need by donating to the 13th annual GIVE BACKpacks campaign to purchase backpacks and school supplies for MCPS students. 

For as little as $20, you can provide a student with a backpack filled with supplies including, paper, crayons, pencils/pens, a pencil sharpener, binders, folders, and more.


Become a Paraeducator at MCPS! 

MCPS is hosting a job fair for paraeducators from 5–7 p.m. on Monday, June 3 at Springbrook High School. Opportunities are available in kindergarten through Grade 12. Candidates can search for open positions on MCPS Careers.
