You’re Invited: Distinguished Service to Education Honors on May 6 

The entire community is invited to join MCPS and the Montgomery County Board of Education for the 2025 Distinguished Service to Education Honors—a free event to celebrate the power of public education—on Tuesday, May 6. 

This ceremony is the largest and most prestigious recognition of Montgomery County educators,  students and community partners. This signature event will honor this year’s top staff and unveil the MCPS Teacher of the Year, the Supporting Services Employee of the Year and the Board of Education’s Student Service Award. 

Save the date and join us at The Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane in North Bethesda. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.; the program begins at 6:30 p.m.

Join Us for Public Information Meetings on Boundary Studies

Upcoming public information meetings on boundary studies are set for the reopening of Charles W. Woodward High School, the opening of Crown High School and the expansion of Damascus High School. These sessions will provide important details on the boundary study scope, process and opportunities for future engagement. More information

While registration is not required, MCPS asks attendees to RSVP to help the district prepare.

The MCPS Boundary Study webpage now includes a feature for individuals to ask a question in one of eight languages, provide an email and receive a response. Submit questions here.


MCPS Hosting Virtual Career Info Session on April 9

In an effort to support federal workers, MCPS is hosting a virtual career information session from 2–4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9. Interested federal employees can join this virtual meeting to learn more about career opportunities available in the district. During the session, MCPS will offer resources and answer questions.

Join Us for Inaugural Summer RISE & Shine Golf Tournament

Join MCPS and the Department of Partnerships at the inaugural Summer RISE & SHINE Golf Tournament on Monday, May 5, at Montgomery Country Club in Laytonsville. This event will raise funds for the Summer RISE program, a career-based summer learning opportunity for MCPS juniors and seniors. The golf tournament is a chance to enjoy a fun day of golf and network with county leaders, local businesses, MCPS staff and participating Summer RISE organizations.

A ticket purchase includes a round of golf and donation to the Summer RISE program, as well as practice green and range time, golf cart use, breakfast refreshments, lunch and an awards reception following play. Additional on-course games will be available, including the Superintendent’s Putting Contest, Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. Register today.

Summer RISE and SHINE


Student Service Learning Reminder:

All MCPS students must earn 75 SSL hours to graduate from high school, and spring break is a wonderful time for students to earn hours! Middle school and high school students can find virtual/remote and/or in-person SSL opportunities on the Montgomery County Volunteer Center website. Students can also find SSL forms, guidelines, resources and more at the SSL Hub for Students/Families. For the High School Certificate of Meritorious Service (seniors who have 240 or more SSL hours) or the Middle School Superintendent’s SSL Award (middle schoolers who have completed the 75-hour SSL graduation requirement), students must submit MCPS Form 560-51 to their school’s SSL coordinator by Friday, April 4. All other SSL forms should be submitted on a rolling basis, but no later than the required deadline of Friday, May 30.

Spring Break Camp: Monday, April 14-Thursday, April 17, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m., KID Museum, 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Bethesda. Register
