How Are We Doing? Tell Us!
MCPS wants to learn more about your family's experience in our schools through the School Climate Survey. Think of it as a snapshot of MCPS’ overall school environment — everything from safety and relationships to teaching and learning. By understanding what is working well and where we can improve, we can create an even more supportive and engaging place for all our students. The survey closes on Monday, June 9, so please complete it today! (To complete the survey, you will need your student’s ID, which can be found in ParentVue.) School climate is not just about how things are; it’s about how we make them better … together.
A Crowning Achievement
Graduation ceremonies have kicked off for nearly 13,000 students receiving their high school diplomas this year. Seniors at Wheaton, Winston Churchill, Quince Orchard, Albert Einstein, Col. Zadok Magruder, Damascus, Seneca Valley and Sherwood high schools, RICA and Blair Ewing were the first to walk across stages. Commencements continue through Thursday, June 12.
Ceremonies feature a variety of speakers, including an Olympic Gold medalist, NBC News correspondent, former NFL player, quiz show host, district court judge, TV host and model, educators, businesspeople and politicians.
More than 2,500 students are earning the Seal of Biliteracy, an award given to graduates who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in one or more languages other than English. Eighty-three graduating seniors have earned it in multiple languages. This year’s students tested in about 50 different languages.

Donate Today to the GIVE BACKpacks Campaign
Help students in need by donating to the 14th annual GIVE BACKpacks campaign to purchase backpacks and school supplies for MCPS students. For as little as $20, you can provide a student with a backpack filled with supplies, including paper, crayons, pencils/pens, pencil sharpener, binders, folders and more.
More than 70,000 of our students live in poverty and need help accessing school supplies to be ready to learn at the start of the new school year. MCPS places orders throughout the summer with a goal of providing as many students as possible with a backpack and school supplies. June, July and August are critical months to fundraise and place orders.
