Sept. 19 Paycheck Will Reflect Full Range of Deductions
|
The Sept. 19, 2025, pay date will be the first of the academic year in which employees will see the full range of deductions withheld from their paychecks. This will be for hours worked between Aug. 23 and Sept. 5, 2025.

MCPS Educational Foundation Offering Project Grants to Staff
|
MCPS Educational Foundation (MCPSEF) is offering small grants to support staff, educators and administrators. Grants of up to $2,000 are available for individual departments and schools, and up to $5,000 for collaborative projects for multiple departments or schools. This year, the MCPSEF is also offering funding to successful projects that can be scaled from one school or office to another. The first round of applications is due Monday, Sept. 15. A second round of applications is due Monday, Dec. 1.

Registration Open for Fall Professional Development
|
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for the fall semester are now available for registration through the Professional Development Online (PDO) system. The fall semester generally runs from October to January. MCPS teachers have priority for course spaces.

2025 Retirement Benefit Statements Now Available on PenPoint
|
Employee Retirement Benefit Statements as of June 30, 2025, are available on PenPoint, the MCPS self-service, online retirement system. Your statement shows personal data such as plan membership, the dates you become eligible for normal and early retirement, and your projected retirement benefits.

Thousands Attend Back-to-School Fair
|
Thousands of MCPS students, parents and community members joined school system staff and community partners on Saturday, Aug. 23, to kick off the 2025-2026 school year at the Back-to-School Fair. Attendees picked up free materials on MCPS programs and community services; participated in curriculum activities; enjoyed music and dancing; created art on spin bikes; and received free immunizations.

Know an Extraordinary Teacher?
|
Nominations are open for $1,000 grants for public school teachers from the Military Bowl and Wegmans Food Markets to use in their classrooms and for their students. This is the third year the program has honored educators from the Washington, D.C. region as part of the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative.
Preference will be given to teachers who are veterans or from military families, as well as to teachers who serve communities with significant military populations. Selected teachers will be recognized at the 2025 Go Bowling Military Bowl game. The deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 30.
