Next Round of Boundary Study Options Meetings Set for October
|
The MCPS community is invited to participate in upcoming public information meetings for the reopening of Charles W. Woodward High School boundary study and the opening of Crown High School and the expansion of the Damascus High School boundary study. In these sessions, the next round of proposed boundary options for the 2027-2028 school year will be presented, including accompanying maps, articulation patterns, data tables and an interactive map tool. MCPS will also share surveys for each boundary study so that attendees can provide meaningful feedback after exploring the options and accompanying resources. Help Shape Next Year’s School Calendar—Share Your Input!

MCPS is seeking input as it works to develop the 2026-2027 school calendar. Please complete this survey to share your feedback.
Your input represents an important component of the development process. MCPS will consider educational interests, operational needs, school closures mandated by state law, compliance with minimum instructional days and credit hour requirements, contingencies for inclement weather and other emergencies, staff professional days and early release days, alignment with assessment schedules and more.
The survey will close on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Help Is Here: Language Line Just Got Easier to Use
|
Need to support someone who speaks another language? Accessing Language Line just got easier! Staff are able to access the audio interpretation service when a parent calls or walks in to an MCPS school or office, and says, “I speak [Language].”
Staff no longer need to enter a Location Distribution Number when connecting to Language Line—making the process faster and more efficient. Staff can also use the LanguageLine Insight app on mobile devices for on-the-go access to interpreters.

Know an Extraordinary Teacher?
|
Nominations are open for $1,000 grants for public school teachers from the Military Bowl and Wegmans Food Markets to use in their classrooms and for their students. This is the third year the program has honored educators from the Washington, D.C. region as part of the Extra Yard for Teachers initiative. Preference will be given to teachers who are veterans or from military families, as well as to teachers who serve communities with significant military populations. Selected teachers will be recognized at the 2025 Go Bowling Military Bowl game. The deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 30.

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is accepting applications for its advisory councils through Friday, Sept. 12. The advisory councils play a vital role in shaping the future of schools by providing direct input on a variety of key issues to State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carey M. Wright.
